Classified document found in former Vice President Mike Pence’s residence – Dagsavisen

The FBI conducted a five-hour search of Pence’s home on Friday, and investigators found a classified document there which they took with them, said former adviser to the former vice president Devin O’Malley. in a press release.

Friday’s search comes after a colleague of his found classified documents in his home last month and notified the Justice Department.

The documents found were then handed over to the national archives. Pence’s attorney said they were mistakenly packed with other paperwork when Pence left his office at the end of his term in Washington.

Pence was subpoenaed Thursday as part of the investigation into his former boss Donald Trump. The subpoena came after months of negotiations between federal prosecutors and legal advisers to Pence.

Justice Department Special Investigator Jack Smith was appointed in November to investigate classified documents found at Trump’s Florida home last summer – as well as a separate investigation into the efforts of Trump and his allies to cancel the 2020 presidential election.

Recently, classified documents were also found in President Joe Biden’s former office and home, and his residences in Delaware were searched by the FBI. No other documents were found in his vacation home last week.
