Bayern Munich beat Freiburg in extra time in the German Cup quarter-final in coach Thomas Tuchel’s second game under Bayern chairmanship.

Bayern Munich were eliminated by an extra-time goal against Freiburg on Tuesday. Dayot Upamecano and Nicolas Höfler made sure the score was 1-1 after half an hour, and after five minutes of extra time the decision was made.

Freiburg were awarded a penalty and Lucas Höler secured victory and promotion for last year’s losing runner-up.

Union Berlin fell a few notches against Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday

Union never managed to put the ball in the goal behind Kevin Trapp and thus left the cup. Morten Thorsby started the game on the bench for Union, but was substituted at half-time. He couldn’t help the team reach the semi-finals.

Frenchman Randal Kolo Muani scored two quick goals after eleven and twelve minutes and gave the home side a dream start. He also held on for the win.

Union are in third place in the Bundesliga, while Eintracht are three places behind.

On Wednesday, the last two quarter-finals await in Nürnberg – Stuttgart and RB Leipzig – Borussia Dortmund. Leipzig is the defending cup champion.
