On Sunday morning, there is a meeting between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in Hiroshima, Japan.

The talks are taking place on the sidelines of G7 summits, where many world leaders have gathered over the past three days to discuss, among other things, a new military package for Ukraine, the militarization of the Pacific by China and the regulation of artificial intelligence. .

Zelenskyj has long demanded F-16 type fighter jets, and now it may seem that the president will get what he wants.

Both NRK And BBC writes on Saturday that the United States says yes to allied countries authorized to deliver F-16 planes to Ukraine, but the information has not been confirmed by the countries themselves. However, it is expected that a joint statement will be issued after the end of the meetings.

– The United States has already agreed to let its allies deliver their F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine – which significantly increases Kiev’s air capacity, writes the BBC.

White House attorney Jake Sullivan recently confirmed that The United States will support a joint effort train Ukrainian pilots on fighters.

“So as the training unfolds over the coming months, we will work with our allies to determine when the planes will be delivered, who will deliver them and how much,” Sullivan told a news conference.

The adviser, however, did not specify which countries have agreed to deliver planes, which countries plan to do so or how many planes the country could possibly receive.

Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram (Sp) will not say whether it is relevant for Norway to contribute with planes.

– We are constantly evaluating new donations to Ukraine, but do not comment on future concrete contributions, Gram said in an email from the Ministry of Defense to TV 2 on Friday evening.
