Today, 200 million turkeys are consumed in the United States

2.7 million Americans boarded a plane on Wednesday, according to the AP news agency. The auto association AAA estimates that 49 million people will get behind the wheel and drive at least 50 miles to see family during the holidays. Unusually early snowfall and a blast at the Canadian border at Niagara Falls don’t appear to have dampened travel. Many Americans are also choosing to put aside the country’s bitter political divisions to reunite with family.

Thanksgiving is also one of the biggest holidays of the year in the country. It is estimated that around 200 million turkeys are consumed during this celebration. On Monday, President Joe Biden did the traditional pardon of the turkey, so that at least two of the birds escaped the dinner table.

Thursday morning local time, the Macy’s fashion show also takes off in New York. Balloons and other equipment are in the works, and excitement is still tied to the question of which American popular culture characters will debut this year. Millions of people watch the televised broadcast of the parade each year, as well as similar parades in other cities. Later in the day, after dinner, many people also watch American football.
