OTTAWA – After a successful inaugural campaign in 2022, Wrestling Canada Lutte (WCL) is once again participating in GivingTuesday and asking for your support! GivingTuesday, a global giving movement that sees charities, businesses and individuals come together to rally around their favorite causes, is November 28th. It’s a day when many organizations that support many causes hope that Canadians will answer the call and donate to a cause close to their hearts. WCL is no different as each year the costs of developing programs, wrestlers and competitions across the world increase.
2023 will mark the 11th anniversary of GivingTuesday. The movement harnesses the power of social media and the generosity of people around the world to bring about real change; it provides a platform to encourage the donation of time, resources and talents to address challenges.
The mission of WCL is to provide national leadership, support and security to our athletes and other participants in the pursuit of success on international podiums with a vision of achieving sustained international excellence through the growth of wrestling at Canada. Key areas of focus include: culture, governance and management, podium performance, return to sport through sport development and promotion.
To fulfill these responsibilities and achieve these objectives, significant resources are required. That’s why, on this GivingTuesday, WCL is asking the wrestling community to support these and other initiatives.
WCL, as a federally incorporated non-profit corporation and Registered Canadian Amateur Athletic Association (RCAAA), is able to issue charitable donation tax receipts for income tax purposes upon receipt of donations from individuals and companies. Tax receipts are available for donations over $50.00. Please refer to WCL’s Donations and Tax Receipts Policy for further details.
WCL’s success is well documented. Over the years we have produced 17 Olympic medalists, 14 senior world champions and 64 senior world championship medalists, in addition to numerous medalists and champions of other ages and events. However, we are always striving for the best and would like to see these numbers increase. Thanks to your donations, not only is greater international success possible, but it also helps to grow the sport at a community level.

Donors can request that 100% of their donation be used for WCL programs such as:
- Cadet National Team
- Junior National Team
- U23 national team
- Senior national team
- Olympic team
- Quest for gold
- Others
