– Now it is very important that I take care of my own health, says Kajsa King.

Swedish mountaineer Kajsa Kling (28) suffers from depression and is taking a break from sport.

In a press release from the Swedish Ski Association, it is stated that Kling is taking a break to take care of his health.

Kling won’t be there when the speed people debut in Canada and the United States in November and December. In consultation with her family, doctors and coaches, she chose to postpone the season premiere.

– I don’t feel well, and I need to be able to stop the mental pressure that competition involves. I want to focus on myself moving forward, Kling said.

– Depression is a disease that can have different effects such as inaction and bad mood. It can also cause concentration problems, and that’s obviously not good when you’re skiing at high speed, says national team doctor Per Liljeholm.

Kling says she needs peace, but emphasizes that she is not in total darkness.

– It’s not like I’m bad every day. It’s more like I’m going through a difficult time in my life and then I need to think straight. Now it is very important that I take care of my own health. We will see how long it takes before I recover and only then will I return to skiing.
